Classical pianist Caroline Oltmanns to perform at Laurel Lake
March 27, 2013 - Praised by the press for her "impeccable technique and expressivity," Caroline Oltmanns has performed as a soloist with orchestras across North America, Europe and Africa. A resident of Hudson, she is Professor of Piano at Youngstown State University.
Ms. Oltmanns will open Music from the Western Reserve’s 31st season with a concert at Christ Church Episcopal in Hudson, Sept. 15 at 5 p.m. But first, meet the artist and enjoy a preview concert and reception at Laurel Lake on Saturday, August 31 at 4 p.m.
Ms. Oltmanns has performed extensively in Germany, France, Switzerland, South Africa and the U.S. Reviews rave about her "focused and heartfelt emotion" (L’Alsace, France) and "mature creativity" (Fürther Zeitung, Germany). Her performances have been broadcast on radio and television stations around the world.
With a wide ranging piano solo and concerto repertoire, Ms. Oltmanns frequently premieres works by contemporary composers. She is a Fulbright Scholar and an International Steinway Artist. A native of Germany, she earned her Diploma at the Staatliche Musikhochschule Freiburg and Master’s and Doctoral degrees at University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Her mentors were John Perry, Robert Levin, Vitaly Margulis and Malcolm Frager.
