Personal training comes to Laurel Lake

October 26, 2010 - As one of Ohio's favorite active retirement communities, it’s no surprise that a majority of Laurel Lake members participate regularly in fitness programs. Now, Laurel Lake is adding personal fitness training to the mix of top-notch services for residents.

Personal training involves one-on-one workouts with a certified professional to help individuals reach their peak wellness level. Personal trainers can assist not only those going through a rehab treatment, but also those who want to improve balance, cardiovascular fitness, shed a few pounds or add muscle mass.

Meet the Trainer

Popular Laurel Lake fitness instructor Jill Rango has over 25 years of experience, and will now divide her time between teaching group exercise classes and providing one-on-one fitness coaching.

“As a personal trainer, I look forward to tailoring plans that will meet each person’s wellness goals while catering to their likes, personalities and abilities," says Jill.

Personal training sessions will be provided by appointment in the Laurel Lake Fitness Center, swimming pool, balance studio, in private homes and outdoors.

Jill earned her B.A. in Therapeutic Recreation from Kent State University, and holds the following certifications: Certified Group Fitness Instructor, American Council on Exercise (ACE); Certified Aquatic Personal Trainer, Aquatic & Fitness Professional Association International; Certified Personal Trainer, ACE; FallProof Certified Balance and Mobility Instructor; and American Heart Association CPR Certification.

The Fitness Center at Laurel Lake caters to the unique needs of active older adults, promoting lifelong health and wellness. Membership is open to Laurel Lake residents and Priority Club members with a wide range of classes designed to improve strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, cardiovascular fitness, personal well-being and mental acuity.

Wellness amenities on campus include an exercise and lap pool; therapy spa; fitness center equipped with state-of-the-art Keiser compressed-air resistance machines, treadmills, bikes and Nu-Steps; shower and changing rooms with towel service; massage therapy and other services.
