Laurel Lake now on Facebook,
and looking for Fans

March 5, 2010 – Laurel Lake Retirement Community in Hudson is now one of roughly 373 million users of the social media site Facebook.com.

The active lifestyle community for adults age 62 and up launched a new Facebook page on February 19, and is now actively recruiting "fans." Facebook users who become fans of Laurel Lake will be able to receive live news feeds, special event coverage, and the latest videos and photos of the community.

The fastest growing demographic on Facebook continues to be women over 55 (with men over 55 right behind), according to Inside Facebook, an independent blog that tracks Facebook's data and demographics.

While the greatest number of users are still ages 18-25, the percentage of users 55-65 continues to grow as parents and grandparents embrace the technology that their children use to keep up with what they're doing. Once on Facebook, they're connecting with former colleagues and classmates and following the people, places and events that interest them most.
