Study the Great Lakes with University Circle at Laurel Lake
January 30, 2012 -- The largest lake chain in the world, the Great Lakes cover 95,000 square miles and contain 20 percent of Earth's surface freshwater supply. In February, University Circle, Inc. and Laurel Lake Retirement Community will offer a series of educational programs on the Great Lakes, funded by a grant from the Laurel Lake Foundation.

Live from Bathysphere Underwater Biological Laboratory (BUBL) Project. Once vital to fur trading and regional development in the early history of Canada and the United States, the Great Lakes remain a significant transportation route for iron ore, steel, petroleum, grain, American automobiles, and much, much more. The Great Lakes are also the resting place for over 5000 shipwrecks. Study the past through these relics and learn about the storms, wars, navigational challenges and human error that caused some of them.
